Perth and District Pipe Band is a historic community and competition band founded in 1893 by Pipe Major Peter MacDonald. It has remained part of Perth’s musical and civic life for more than 130 years.
The band has performed at community events, parades, Highland games, competitions, and Gaelic Society gatherings. Its history includes numerous competition successes, recordings made in the 1930s, and a longstanding relationship with Perth’s civic piping tradition. In 2011 its pipe major was appointed City Piper, restoring a local role dating back centuries.
