The Pretoria Boys High School (PBHS) Pipe Band has a history that includes the school’s Scottish roots and the role of families with Scottish origins in the school’s history:

Thistle symbol

The thistle symbolizes the Scottish roots of Daniel Matheson, who was the headmaster of PBHS from 1935 to 1949.

Swords

The swords represent the war years (1939-1945) and the role of the masters and boys in the conflict

PBHS is a public school that is run by the National Department of Education and the Gauteng Department of Education.
