The first functional Pipes and Drums in the Czech Republic

Welcome to the official Web site of the 1st Czech Pipes and Drums the traditional Scottish Pipes and Drums band originally found by instructors and students of the 1st School of Bagpiping in the Czech Republic.

The band follows in the traditions of the now unfortunately obsolete 1st Bohemian Highland Pipers, established in 1999.

This Web site has been compiled in order to provide Scottish bagpipe music enthusiasts and the public in the Czech Republic (and abroad of course) with details and regular updates of the Band’s activities, current membership and practice schedule, and information about Scottish bagpiping in the Czech Republic.

The band comes under the leadership of Vaclav Rout, a well known figure in the pipe band community both in the Czech Republic and in central Europe. His goal is to enable the 1st Czech Pipes and Drums to become a quality pipe band comparable with similar bands abroad and to introduce traditional Scottish bagpipe music to the Czech Republic and attract more people to Scottish bagpipe music, both as players and enthusiasts.

The band wears the Czech National Tartan (registered at the Scottish Tartans Authority, No. 7474).
